Historical Requiem

Historical Requiem is the title of my gallery page, where I bring together two of my series—'Currier and Ives: Quoted' and 'Imposed Icons'—to delve into how historical narratives and figures continuously mold contemporary society. The 'Currier and Ives: Quoted' series revisits the prolific prints of Currier and Ives, specifically their Darktown Series, incorporating modern quotations that transform and challenge the original scenes, to create a new set of interpretations. On the other hand, 'Imposed Icons' is a collection of collage works that superimpose historical figures onto everyday scenarios, visually representing the pervasive influence of these figures in today's world. By juxtaposing these series, Historical Requiem fosters a dynamic conversation between the past and the present, critically examining the ways we remember history and its profound effect on our everyday lives. This gallery is an invitation to provoke thought and to reevaluate the narratives that define our collective identity. These works can be seen in their entirety at my colorline print shop.
